Content Description

The aforementioned content is part of the Origins of Operating Systems Course
at the Hasso-Plattner-Institute for IT System Engineers in June 2oo6.
The given presentation describes main aspects of historical developments in
computer technique. The main attention is spent on key concepts of the
Electronic Numerical Integrator And Computer (ENIAC) invented
during the 1940s at the Moore School of Electrical Engineering in Pennsylvania.
In combination with the results of the diploma thesis "Simulating the ENIAC as
a Java Applet" of Till Zoppke at the Free University of Berlin real programming aspects
are discussed and demonstrated.
A programming tutorial for the ENIAC simulator creating the modulo algorithm
can be found here!
